MEISNER-BASED ACTING WORKSHOP

In TWO sessions (3 hours each, 6 hours total)July 14th (Saturday) and July 15 (Sunday)
9:00 am – 12:00 noon
at Our Space, Hatagaya, Tokyo
In this workshop, participants will learn the basic techniques and exercises an actor can utilize prior to and during the rehearsal process to improve their performance and understanding of an effective character. Particular attention will be given to the acting techniques of Sanford Meisner, which are considered accessible to both professional and novice actors alike. The workshop will include discussions of selected readings and video clips from Meisner, easy-to-do acting exercises, simple techniques for improving an actor’s craft, and partner-based scene work to immediately apply and explore skills learned. The class will conclude with presentations of the partner scenes.
Cost:
￥12,000 (6 hours of instruction + cost of handouts)
** This workshop is recommended for those ages 12 and older.
