By popular demand, Tokyo International Players presents a second production of Honiefaith.
NOTE: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6th PERFORMANCE IS NOW SOLD OUT!
When a Filipino hostess' dismembered body is discovered in a Tokyo coin locker, Manila newspaper reporter Victor Balmori is dispatched to Japan. Balmori is looking for a story, he finds a nightmare.
Written by Tokyo-based Monty DiPietro, Honiefaith is a three-act play based on real events.
The premiere of Honiefaith opened Tokyo International Players' "Second Stage" series in June, playing to full houses at a 'black box' theater in Hatagaya. The November production is being directed by the author, and features Filipino television and film actor Percival Florendo Bugayong in the lead role. The play is in English, and runs about two hours with intermission.
Monty DiPietro (playwright/director): "In the spring of 2008 I read a news report about the death in Tokyo of Honiefaith Ratilla Kamiosawa, and began imagining characters and their reactions to the tragedy. The ideas became a script. Prior to staging 'Honiefaith' in June 2009, Tokyo International Players had not mounted a play written and set in Tokyo in 112 years of operation. In this respect, and also due its topical and socially-relevant subject matter, 'Honiefaith' has taken TIP in an exciting new direction.
I am honored to be directing the November production. I'm also pleased that we will once again be presenting 'Honiefaith' in an intimate theatrical environment, which I believe was one of the factors contributing to the strong audience response garnered by the premiere. On behalf of our talented and dedicated cast and crew, I invite you to participate in the experience of the second 'Honiefaith' production."
