Small casts, creative venues, and playing to limited audiences
CALL FOR SECOND STAGE PROPOSALS
WHAT?:
TIP launched Second Stage in 2009 with the goal of providing an opportunity for artists to present new and innovative shows in intimate, creative settings, and to offer Tokyo audiences exciting new theatrical experiences different from those in the main season lineup.
Presented in "black box" style, Second Stage is intimate with its smaller casts, creative venues, and playing to a limited number of patrons. Already audiences have enthusiastically attended productions of Monty DiPietro's "Honiefaith" (June 2009; Nov 2009); Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard's "Greater Tuna" (Sep 2009; will be remounted Sep 2010); and Matt Thompson, Matt Chiorini and Dana Vermette's "If The Shoe Fits" (Sept 2009).
