STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ABOUT OUR NEXT TIP YOUTH PROGRAM

TIP Youth aims to provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge and practical
training in theatre and performing arts, culminating in performances of a fully staged
musical. We believe that the experience gained from participation in the TIP Youth program
will be beneficial in many aspects of both student and future adult lives, whether they
perform professionally or not. Unlike an “acting school”, TIP Youth deals with performing in

a production with others, as well as the "total" theatrical experience.

WORKSHOPS
During class, workshops are given on topics such as foundation, core, voice, movement, staging, safety, tech and much more. Students will learn a new glossary of vocabulary associated with acting and the theatre. They will develop public speaking skills and learn ways to handle self-consciousness and take pride in team achievements. TIP Youth offers students a supportive environment to experiment, try new things, make mistakes, and improve in multiple areas of development. Through hard work, combined with rehearsals and other fun activities, they will create a fantastic show that many others can enjoy. Students learn that it is the process as much as the end result that is important. There are two age groups in the program. Act 1 is for 8 to 12 year olds and “Act 2” is for13 to 17 year olds. Students must be 8 or older by the first rehearsal date to be admitted.

LANGUAGE

Please note that this is an English-speaking program and we are unable to provide support for students in Japanese. All students are expected to be fluent or near-native speakers of English as a minimum requirement. Concerns about language ability may be discussed with the directors at orientation.

COST
The full course of six months of professional-level classes, workshops, intensive production week rehearsals, plus all costs associated with the production is ¥95,000. A TIP Youth t-shirt, access to photos and videos are included in this fee. Payment, in full, should be made in cash at orientation in October. Bank transfers will also be accepted. Please note that all director’s casting decisions are final and we will not be able to provide a refund if a student or parent is not satisfied with the role(s) assigned.

VENUE
With very few exceptions, TIP Youth rehearsals are at:
Our Space in Hatagaya (two stops from Shinjuku on the Keio New Line)
2-1-1 Hatagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 151-0072

FAQ
How do you choose students for the TIP youth classes?
Online reservations are first come, first served - and then attend our orientation in October to get a better idea of how your children will fit in the program.

How many students are in each class?
We can accommodate 15~20 students each in Act 1 and Act 2.

What kind of shows have you done before?
TIP Youth has performed musicals such as FAME Jr., DISNEY'S MY SON PINOCCHIO Jr., HAIRSPRAY Jr., DISNEY'S MULAN Jr., FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Jr., and DISNEY'S PETER PAN Jr., among others. These "Jr." titles are condensed versions of Broadway shows provided by the original producers and writing teams for performances by students.

What information do I need for the reservation form?
The online registration form only requires very basic information such as name, email address, child’s birthday, parent/guardian’s name, phone number, etc.  It is a very simple form; nothing complicated.

May I pay the class fee by bank transfer?
We will send out bank transfer information by email upon confirmed registration. Sorry, credit cards are not accepted.

We usually speak English at home, but my daughter/son is not a perfect native English speaker. Is their level good enough?
Please attend the orientation session to get a better idea of how your child will fit into the program. The directors will discuss English proficiency with families individually and students can see how they feel with the other students, the directors, etc.
