TOKYO INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS (TIP)

COVID-19 GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES

 

Tokyo International Players (TIP) is committed to ensuring everyone's safety and comfort as we return to live performances. We are therefore implementing the following guidelines and procedures based on conversations with our community of creative artists, our administrative leadership, previous audience members, our performance venue, and Japanese health authorities. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us get back onstage!

 

 

➢CAST AND CREW

  • During the rehearsal period

    • ​Cast and crew are required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (original copy or reasonable facsimile showing a second vaccine dose administered at least 14 days prior) at the first in-person rehearsal.

    • Cast and crew are required to use hand sanitizer (provided by TIP) as they enter the rehearsal venue.

    • Surgical masks for crew (properly worn over the nose and mouth) are required at all rehearsals.

    • Surgical masks for cast (properly worn over the nose and mouth) are in principle required at all rehearsals, although exceptions may be made at the discretion of the production team and with the consent of all parties.

    • Stage management is responsible for taking temperatures of all cast and crew as they arrive at the rehearsal venue; no one with a temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius (as per Japanese standard) is allowed to enter.

    • The rules for social distancing of cast and crew during rehearsals should be agreed upon by all parties on a case-by-case basis.

    • Any questions or concerns should be directed to stage management.

  • During production week

    • ​In the 14 days prior to production week, cast and crew are strongly encouraged to refrain from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19 by avoiding large, unmasked gatherings.

    • PCR tests (provided by TIP via donation) are required or cast and crew on the Monday of production week.

    • Stage management is responsible for ensuring the sanitization and ventilation of the performance venue before and after each performance.

    • Cast and crew are strongly encouraged to limit interaction with audience members before and after each performance. There is no "meet-and-greet" after the performance.

    • Cast and crew are prohibited from accepting flowers or gifts from audience members.

  • Beyond

    • ​Cast and crew are required to inform TIP if they contract or show symptoms of COVID-19 or are deemed a "close contact" up to 14 days after the production closes.

    • TIP will make every effort to contact all cast and crew if anyone involved reports having contracted or shown symptoms of COVID-19 or is deemed a "close contact" up to 14 days after the production closes.

 

➢AUDIENCE

  • At point-of-sale

    • Audience members are asked to:

      • Acknowledge that they will be required at the theater to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (original copy or reasonable facsimile showing a second vaccine dose administered at least 14 days prior), OR a negative PCR test administered within 48 hours of the performance time.

      • Agree to a liability waiver absolving TIP from any responsibility for tests or other medical expenses incurred as a result of attending the performance.

      • Provide contact information (name and phone number) for each member of their party.

      • Acknowledge that cast and crew are prohibited from accepting flowers or gifts from audience members.

    • Audience members are informed of the audience size and venue details (including location and size) at the time of purchase.

    • Only online reservations and prepayments are accepted; no physical tickets are issued and no cash can be handled.

    • Inform audience members of TIP's refund policy (see below).

  • At the theater

    • Audience members are asked to:

      • Show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (original copy or reasonable facsimile showing a second vaccine dose administered at least 14 days prior), OR a negative PCR test administered within 48 hours of the performance time.

      • Confirm agreement with a liability waiver absolving TIP from any responsibility for tests or other medical expenses incurred as a result of attending the performance.

      • Confirm contact information (name and phone number) for each member of their party.

      • Use hand sanitizer (provided by TIP) as they enter the performance venue.​​

    • Front-of-house staff are responsible for taking temperatures of all audience members as they arrive at the performance venue; no one with a temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius (as per Japanese standard) is allowed to enter.

    • Audience members are strongly encouraged to limit interaction with cast and crew before and after each performance. There is no "meet-and-greet" after the performance.

    • Cast and crew are prohibited from accepting flowers or gifts from audience members.

    • No concessions will be served. Outside food and drink are not permitted in the performance venue.

  • Beyond

    • Audience members are strongly encouraged to inform TIP if they contract or show symptoms of COVID-19 or are deemed a "close contact" up to 14 days after the production closes.

    • TIP will make every effort to contact all audience members if anyone involved reports having contracted or shown symptoms of COVID-19 or is deemed a "close contact" up to 14 days after the production closes.

 

 

➢OTHER

  • Refunds

    • ​In general, TIP's policy regarding COVID-related refunds is to be as flexible as possible.

    • Any cancellation instigated by TIP for any reason is grounds for full refunds to all audience members concerned.

    • Requests for refunds instigated by audience members will, in principle, be granted up to showtime on the day of the performance.

    • In the case of denial of entry to the performance venue for any reason, audience members will be offered a full refund by front-of-house staff.

    • Mediation on the matter of refunds, if necessary, may be provided by the COVID-19 communications liaison.

  • Means of internal and external communication

    • ​TIP has established COVID-19 communications liaisons to serve as"point person" for all relevant internal and external communications; the email address community@tokyoplayers.org has been created for this purpose.

    • TIP reserves the right to revise these guidelines and procedures at any time.

  • Request for the use of COCOA (COVID-19 Contact App)

    • In accordance with the policy of the Japanese government, please download and use the COCOA, the Covid-19 Contact App by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Please refer to the following information on how to install the application:
