Tokyo International Players presents

Tokyo International Players proudly presents EVITA, the legendary musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, directed by Jon Reimer, in an amateur production by arrangement with LW Entertainment Ltd.
Set against the backdrop of Argentina’s political and social transformation, EVITA tells the extraordinary story of Eva Perón, the woman who rose from humble beginnings to become a global icon. Intelligent, ambitious, and unrelenting in her pursuit of power and glamour, Evita crafted her own myth, capturing the hearts of a nation and the gaze of the world.
In our hyper-connected era where fame can be both crafted and fleeting, EVITA remains a musical for the modern age. This new production delves deeper into the creation of her legend, exploring how Eva and those around her built the dazzling persona that continues to fascinate generations.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome, and thank you for joining Tokyo International Players for our season-finale production of EVITA by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
Throughout this year, TIP has focused on strengthening the bonds of community within our company, among our members, and with you, our audience. We began the season by sharing laughs with Baskerville, then moved into thoughtful reflection with LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, LEMONS, and now we conclude with the soaring, collective voice of one of the most powerful stories in the musical theatre canon....

When Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice first brought EVITA to the stage, they were exploring a specific moment in Argentine history: the story of a First Lady who rose from humble beginnings to capture the imagination of a nation and the attention of the world. Today, that story resonates less as a historical portrait and more as a reflection of our own fascination with fame, influence, and belonging. Eva Perón’s journey from the rural town of Los Toldos to the grandeur of the Casa Rosada continues to feel strikingly contemporary.....

CAST

CAITLIN KELLY
Eva Duarte
Caitlin Kelly is thrilled to be back on stage for the first time since 2019! Caitlin has spent her time away from the stage becoming a mother (to a fabulous little rehearsal partner) and working as an audiobook narrator. Notable TIP productions include Beggar Woman in SWEENEY TODD (2017), Audrey in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (2009), and Nancy in OLIVER! (2009). Caitlin is originally from Ohio and has a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch. She is dedicating this performance to the memory of Davina McFadyen.

DALE WALKER
Juan Peron
Johnathan Dale Walker was born and raised in Shelby, North Carolina in the US. His musical endeavors began early, particularly at his grandmother’s piano, learning Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Ritchie Valens by ear. As his piano playing continued throughout his life, he also picked up the guitar, bass, mandolin, and banjo. His vocal pursuits began a little later, ultimately resulting in his acquisition of a Bachelor’s of Music degree from University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he majored in vocal performance with a focus on operatic performance.
He continues his earlier instrumental endeavors in Tokyo, playing with his band, The New Rain Makers, writing songs, teaching voice, guitar, and piano at The American Guitar Academy in Roppongi, and singing/acting with Tokyo International Players when they’ll have him (his most recent performances having been in “I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE,” and the TIP Fundraiser last year). He currently resides in Setagaya with his wife and two beautiful daughters. Oh, he reckons his wife is beautiful too.

SARAH YANAGITA
Peron's Mistress
Sarah is grateful and delighted to help bring the story of EVITA to you! As a "mostly" stay-at-home-mother of an energetic 4 year-old boy, Sarah sees every opportunity from TIP as an incredible gift to be able to continue growing in her craft and confidence. She'd like to especially thank her husband Takeshi for never failing to step up when she has to step away for rehearsals. You're my Superman forever and always!
Augustin Magaldi
ALEXANDER O'MALLEY
Alexander is originally from Yorkshire, England, and has been living in Tokyo for almost two years whilst working on the JET programme. He has worked with TIP on two other productions, IN A WORD and BASKERVILLE, but this is his biggest show yet. He studied acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and has years of experience performing in musicals and shows. He will soon be studying a master's degree in theatre in the hopes of working with International schools or universities in the future. He is always eager to take on new work, so feel free to get in touch!
