Join us as we celebrate the magic of theatre with our 2026-2027 season, under the banner of SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED! Our season honors the classic stories we all cherish while embracing fresh voices and exciting new perspectives. From a beloved Shakespeare comedy to original works by Tokyo-based artists, these shows reflect the vibrant tradition of a true theatrical community: preserving the past while creating something uniquely our own.

The season begins in October 2026 with something borrowed: the English-language premiere of JONQUIL: THE LEGEND OF LOVE AND THE TURNING SEASONS with book and lyrics by Saori Gonoi; music by Ko Kamakura, Takachika Ehara, Mion Nazakura, and Saori Gonoi; translated and directed by Jazlaan Karshis. Do you know why the seasons change? Well, hidden within the answer is a most legendary love story that will whisk you from the Surface World, up to Olympus, down to the Underworld, and back again! All your favorite Greek gods make an appearance, including Hades, Persephone, Demeter, Hecate, Zeus, and more. And don’t forget everyone’s favorite three-headed-dog! Originally written and performed in Japanese by Tokyo-based theater group FUNFAIR, JONQUIL has been fully translated into English. JONQUIL is proof that musical theater in Tokyo is thriving! 

We continue in February 2027 with something new: the world premiere of SO BIG, SO SMALL, a new play by Tokyo-based playwright India Hudson, directed by Laura Pollacco. Luke is different from the other children. He’s not interested in eating sweets like Kelly, daydreaming like Reggie, drawing like Noah, or even playing like Milo. He doesn’t fit–as his older sister Emma keeps reminding him. Luke’s life becomes even more complicated when he discovers a tape recorded voice asking the seemingly simple question: “What is my happiest memory?” How does a young child answer such a question? While his friends deal with their own childlike problems, Luke searches for an answer. But he might not be ready to face the truth…. This innovative, thought-provoking, and highly entertaining, theatrical adventure will make you question the “struggles” of mundane adult life, and perhaps even wonder if it’s possible to grow… down?

Our May 2027 season finale is something old: THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR by William Shakespeare, directed by Chris Parham. A comedy of traps, tricks, and taking the bait, Shakespeare’s irresistible romp turns Windsor into a playground where everyone is hunting… and almost everyone gets caught! When the penniless Sir John Falstaff hatches a scheme to seduce two wealthy married women at once, he believes he is the master of the hunt. But Mistress Ford and Mistress Page see the hook beneath his charm and turn his own appetite against him. Meanwhile, jealous husband Ford dons a disguise, unaware that his suspicions are making a fool of him. Around them, a lively cast of lovers, rivals, and eccentrics (including Anne Page and the three suitors vying for her hand) join in the sport, only to discover that the end rarely turns out as planned. At the heart of the play are the brilliant “merry wives” themselves, who use friendship, intelligence, and imagination to outwit those who underestimate them. Full of laughter, mischief, and reversals of fortune, this Shakespearean adventure invites audiences to enjoy the chase.
