Tokyo International Players presents

Get on your deerstalker cap – the play’s afoot and Sherlock Holmes is on the case! The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one.
To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as nine actors deftly portray nearly 40 characters.
Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be, as comedic genius Ken Ludwig transforms Arthur Conan Doyle's classic “The Hound of the Baskervilles” into a murderously funny adventure.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the opening production of Tokyo International Players’ 129th season! On behalf of all of the actors, designers, crew, and volunteers, it brings me immense joy to welcome you back to the theater. This performance marks not only the start of a new artistic year, but also our return to a full season lineup since long-term production planning was hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic. After several years of uncertainty, distance, and adaptation, it feels truly wonderful to once again plan for a full season of shows......

Welcome to Tokyo International Players’ production of Ken Ludwig's BASKERVILLE: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, where the fog-shrouded moors of Victorian England meet the vibrant energy of live theatre. In bringing this delightfully theatrical adaptation to life, we've embraced a philosophy that celebrates both the timeless magic of traditional stagecraft sprinkled with the dynamic possibilities of modern theatrical technology....

CAST

ALEX O'MALLEY
Sir Henry Baskerville, Sir Charles Baskerville, and Sir Hugo Baskerville
Alexander is currently working as an ALT on the JET programme. He obtained his BA in Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama before moving to Japan last year. This is his second show with TIP, having first performed in Lauren Yee’s IN A WORD.
With a history in musical theatre back in the UK and his acting experience at drama school, he is always looking for new opportunities to perform in Tokyo - if you’re looking for an actor or model, let him know!
DOUG BRITTAIN
Dr. Mortimer, Baron Scarpia, Victor, and John Falstaff
Doug’s monthly performances with the Pirates of Tokyo Bay improv group have provided opportunities over the years to take many risks with members that have always ”got your back”. He has enjoyed that same spirit with the BASKERVILLE cast. This is Doug’s third production with TIP after appearing as Horton in SEUSSICAL and as the right half of the Wardrobe in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
In the early 2000s Doug was a part of numerous Niigata JET Charity Musical productions, always looking for the laughs as Rooster Hannigan in ANNIE, Cowardly Lion in THE WIZARD OF OZ, Mr. Harry MacAfee in BYE BYE BIRDIE and Doc in WEST SIDE STORY (not funny).
Doug would like to thank Ayako for continuing to hug him, despite the beard.

GEORGIA RYDER
Mrs. Clayton, Daisy, German Maid, Shepherdess, Baby, Winnie, Lucy, Castilian Desk Clerk, and Cab Driver
Georgia is ecstatic to welcome in the new season from TIP with the cast and crew of BASKERVILLE. She has been a member of TIP since 2019 and has been seen on the TIP stage in a multitude of roles, the most recent of which being Mayzie in SEUSSICAL (2025). Before coming to Japan, Georgia obtained her degree in Musical Theatre from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts in New Zealand. She has always been partial to farce and is looking forward to introducing you to the world of Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of Baskervilles.
Mrs. Hudson, Cartwright, Mrs. Barrymore, Nurse McKeeble, and Floria Tosca
LAURA POLLACCO
Laura is a British-Maltese actress who has been performing in Tokyo since 2022 and has appeared in numerous productions with TIP, including PRIDE & PREJUDICE (2023), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (2024), and JOHN HEMSTOCK BLACK (2022). She is thrilled to return to the stage once again in BASKERVILLE, testing out her accents and hoping not to laugh on stage at the sheer hilarity that is this show. Outside of theatre, Laura is a journalist, photographer, and content creator, travelling around Japan to capture its beauty and culture. She also enjoys pushing herself in karate classes and cycling around Tokyo to meet friends.

NICOLAS GREGORIADES
Dr. John Watson
This is Nicolas's ninth (he thinks) mainstage show with TIP, since the Comedy Festival of 2013 where he first encountered Michelle and Ron. Having fed himself a steady diet of murder mysteries as a teenager, he is thrilled to be part of this adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's famous story. He also feels tremendously privileged to be in the same orbit as this ridiculously talented cast. In the real world, Nicolas teaches Drama and English to some of the loveliest students in the world at Saint Maur International School in Yokohama.
RON SCOTT
Stapleton, Hound, Country Farmer, Train Conductor, Milker

Ron, originally from Canada, is thrilled (and slightly terrified) to be back on stage after a *mere* 12-year hiatus. His last appearance was in TIP’s production of AVENUE Q, where the puppets upstaged him nightly. By day, Ron juggles the wildly different worlds of teaching both kindergarteners and adult ESL students at a university—meaning he’s equally skilled at singing “The Wheels on the Bus” and discussing the finer points of intransitive verbs.
He’s especially delighted to be working under the direction of Michelle, whom he once directed in her very first TIP role back in 2009 (he’s calling it payback). Ron is grateful for the warm welcome back and promises not to forget his lines… probably.

SAFIYA QUINLEY
Sherlock Holmes
Safiya is thrilled to make her TIP debut in BASKERVILLE. Originally from San Diego, she holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Southern California and works full-time in Tokyo as an actor, narrator, and occasional MC. In addition to her acting work, Safiya trains in hip hop, jazz funk, and heels dance. Recent credits include TV: OMUSUBI (NHK) and film: FRONTLINE (Warner Bros.). She can also be seen weekly on NHK eTele’s EIGO DE ASOBO MEETS THE WORLD as Saffy the Witch!
Miss Stapleton, Maiden, Nurse Malloy, and Laura Lyons
SARAH YANAGITA
A mostly-SAHM , Sarah is so grateful to be given another opportunity to work with TIP as well as the chance to do some fun accent work! Playing with accents has always been a favorite hobby for her, despite feeling that it's semi-problematic in nature. It is good for a laugh though--and if you're ever feeling down, Sarah recommends to try saying "Frosted Flakes are more than good, they're great" in a Brooklyn accent (or your favorite one). Guaranteed grin at least! Sarah is thankful to her fellow cast members for helping her grow her craft by their incredible examples, and especially her husband Takeshi and son Jun for their support. Love you both to the moon and back!

TIM JEFFARES
Inspector Lestrade, Barrymore, Wilson, Bradley, Dr. McCann, Black Beard, and Trap Driver
This is Tim’s 10th season with TIP, having appeared in at least one show every year over that decade. Originally from London, he has spent more years than he cares to remember living and working as a lawyer in Tokyo. This show offers the perfect chance to explore multiple personalities and accents and, hopefully, provide some joyful entertainment in the process alongside wonderful fellow cast members. Thank you all for coming.
Rehearsal Assistant, Stand-in
CASSIE BUCY
Cassie Bucy is very excited to be a part of TIP for the first time. Having just graduated from high school earlier this year, she's enjoying exploring adulthood while also getting to be a part of what she loves: theatre. So far, she's been in seven different plays and musicals, with her most recent role being Pinocchio in SHREK THE MUSICAL. Outside of acting, she enjoys creating/drawing her original characters and going to unique cafes around Tokyo. She's ready to do her best to support this production and bring lots of snacks while doing it!
