TIP is thrilled to announce auditions for our first show of the 2023-24 season, I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE by Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts! We need performers with strong vocal chops and a great sense of comedy for this hilarious 21st-century reboot of a long-running Broadway musical revue celebrating the mating game. Scheduled for October 2023, it’s a crowd-pleasing comedy that takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as “the relationship” and marks the return to TIP of veteran director Jon Reimer!
WHAT TO PREPARE
16-32 bars of a contemporary Broadway-style song that shows off your acting skills. The song may be performed a cappella or with pre-recorded accompaniment. Choose something that shows off your personality; have fun with it! Contact the casting director if you need help choosing an appropriate piece. You will also be sent a liability waiver, Covid-19 safety agreement, and general questionnaire so you can tell us about your theater/performance background and rehearsal availability.

If you are unable to attend an in-person audition session, you can send a recording of your song to our casting director at the email address below. The deadline for video submissions is Sunday, July 9th, 2023 at 6pm.

PERFORMANCE DATES
October 26-29, 2023 (actors must also be available for tech/dress rehearsals on October 23-25)
FIRST READ-THROUGH DATE
Actors should be available for online meetings/rehearsals starting from July 11th, and in-person rehearsals starting in August.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Weekend mornings or afternoons and weekday evenings in various locations around central Tokyo. Two or three days per week in August/September 2023 and at least three or four days per week in October 2023. Some early rehearsals will be held online. NOTE: Preference may be given to actors who are available to rehearse in July.

CASTING BREAKDOWN
2M + 2F (all adults age 20+). Some roles may entail a combination of understudy, ensemble, and/or backstage work.
COVID SAFETY MEASURES
TIP strongly encourages all actors to be triple-vaccinated against Covid-19. Although masks will be required at some rehearsals, we may ask you to remove them for in-person audition sessions and callbacks. Actors will not wear masks during performances.
HOW TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
