Tokyo International Players would like to thank everyone who attended for making COCK a huge success! Please stay tuned for information on our upcoming readings, performances, and workshops!

Tokyo International Players (TIP) is proud to announce a staged reading of the West End hit comedy COCK by Mike Bartlett, directed by Karen Pauley and presented by special arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

Performed for a limited audience at Our Space (Hatagaya Station on the Keio New Line). Strict prevention protocols for COVID-19 will be in place, including vaccine and mask requirements for audience members.

SYNOPSIS: John has been in a stable relationship with his boyfriend for a number of years. But when he takes a break, he accidentally falls in love with a woman. Torn between the two, filled with guilt and conflicting emotions, he doesn’t know which way to turn. His boyfriend is willing to wait for him to make a decision, but so is his girlfriend. And both are prepared to fight to keep him. As the pressure mounts, a dinner with both parties is arranged, and everyone wants to know: Who is John? What is he? And what will his decision be?

What is a staged reading? Quite simply, it is theater in its purest form: actors, directors, and scripts, with minimal "bells and whistles" to distract from the text itself. Some or all stage directions may be read aloud. Sets, costumes, and lighting effects are reduced to the barest essential. It is perhaps closest in form to a radio play or audiobook, performed for a live audience!

WHEN: Friday, May 13th at 7pm; Saturday, May 14th at 2pm and 7pm; and Sunday, May 15th at 2pm.

WHERE: Our Space, Hatagaya, Tokyo. MAP
